The track is extremely slippery this year. The Express Lube Tacoma required some major suspension setup changes to try to get the handling more appropriate for the conditions.

Top Section Practice

Rod Millen was able to cut 3 seconds off his time on the top section today in practice. The road conditions are extremely slippery and have made the set up on the Toyota Tacoma challenging. The team made several suspension and aerodynamic changes today that paid off.

Qualifying

Rod and his Pennzoil Tacoma was the fastest qualifier on the Hill today. Rod fought back from a spinout that cost him 20 seconds to cross the qualifying line first. Track conditions are improving as the loose dirt and gravel is being moved to the sides of the road by repeated test runs.

Race Day!
The Tacoma ran beautifully on the bottom section of the hill, at speeds estimated by some to be world record material. Unfortunately, Rod suffered a turbo failure right after Glenn Cove and was forced to stop his run to the top. This is a disappointment to all of us in the Rod Millen Family.
